Professional Raft Guide

Job Summary: Supervise, instruct, and ensure the safety of our rafting guests on the river. No previous whitewater skills needed. Full training program provided and required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Interact with guests and co-workers
  • Prepare necessary equipment for river trips
  • Assist other guides with safety equipment
  • Maintain safety procedures for all guests
  • Communicate appropriately with guests and co-workers
  • Carry out any duties assigned by Trip Leader or Manager

Job Requirements:

  • Must have a professional attitude at all times
  • Have a love for the river
  • Have the ability to make appropriate decisions during stressful or critical situations
  • Have strong oral skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enthusiastic personality
  • Ability to successfully swim through all rapids
  • CPR and First Aid (we provide)
  • Meet or exceed state guide qualifications (skill assessment completed at the close of the Guide Training Program)

Rock Climbing/Mountain Bike/Kayak Instructor

Bike Mechanic

Summary of position: Performs preventative maintenance and repairs of a fleet of 100+ rental bicycles. Maintains maintenance logs, orders parts, and maintains inventory. Maintains a clean and organized repair area. Issues bikes to customers and performs fit adjustments. Provides repair services for any privately-owned bicycle. Briefs customers on bicycle operations, safety and provides trail information.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintains all bicycles in a safe working order
  • Adjusts each bicycle as needed to fit customers, including but not limited to seat height, etc.
  • Instructs customers on bicycle operations, operating safety and trail information
  • Performs bicycle preventative maintenance
  • Makes all needed repairs, to our fleet or customer's personal bikes
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels of replacement or repair parts.
  • Orders parts and documents on-hand inventory
  • Keeps repair area clean and organized
  • Insures bicycles are clean and ready for rental

Minimum Requirements:

  • Basic to advance knowledge of bicycle repair and maintenance
  • One year experience in bicycle repairs recommended
  • Enthusiastic personality.

Working Conditions:

  • Indoor and outdoor working environments
  • Employment from Spring until late Fall
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Highly trafficked tourist area adjacent to the Great Allegheny Passage and other mountainous trails

Job Summary: Answer phone calls, sells and reserves outdoor activities and lodging, interacts with customers in person, files information, opens/closes office, general office duties.

  • Answers phone calls promptly in a face-paced office setting
  • Interact with customers in a friendly and helpful manner via telephone or in person
  • Process reservations for outdoor activities or lodging

Job Requirements:

  • Must have good communications skills
  • Experience with typing, filling, computer skills and general office duties recommended

Job Summary: Interacts with guests upon checking in for outdoor activities, answers guests questions, reviews release forms for completeness, sells and reserves outdoor activities, rents wetsuits, sell souvenirs, maintains inventory, completes necessary paperwork, responsible for sales money, opens and closes check-in booth or store.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interacts with guests checking in for outdoor activities
  • Sells and reserves outdoor activities to guests walking in without reservations
  • Rents wetsuits or other foul weather gear
  • Accompanies guest to launch area
  • Sells souvenirs after guests return from activities
  • Maintains inventory
  • Counts sales money for accuracy
  • Open and closes check-in booth or store
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned by management

Job Requirements:

  • Cash register knowledge helpful, but not required. We provide training.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Must have good communication skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current Driver's License
  • Enthusiastic personality
  • Available weekends and holidays

Outdoor Retail Sales Clerk

Job Summary: Interact with guests, answer questions about outdoor equipment, assist guests in finding merchandise, sells and reserves ooutdoor activities, sells related souvenirs, maintains inventory, rents bicycle and rafting equipment, completes necessary paperwork, responsible for sales money, receives and prepares new inventory, opens and closes store.

  • Interacts with customers and answer any/all questions they may have
  • Sells and reserves outdoor activities to guests walking in without reservations
  • Assists guests in finding merchandise
  • Sells souvenirs
  • Rents bicycles and rafting equipment
  • Maintains inventory, prepares new inventory for sale
  • Counts sales money for accuracy
  • Open and closes check-in booth or store
  • Performs other duties that may be assigned by management

Job Requirements:

  • Cash register knowledge helpful, but not required. We provide training.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Knowledge of outdoor sports, i.e. biking, hiking, kayaking, etc. helpful but not required

The Ohiopyle House Cafe and Mariettaville Tavern is seeking fun out-going people to fill various positions. Full-time and part-time positions are available. Must be available to work weekends.

The Cafe is located on the corner of Grant and Sheridan Streets in Ohiopyle. It is adjacent to the Great Allegheny Passage. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The full bar serves the widest variety of domestic and imported beers in Ohiopyle and is the only bar "on the mountian" to serve frozen drinks.
