Temperatures soared well over 80 degrees this past weekend. Ohiopyle looked and felt more like July than May. The beautiful weather really got us thinking about Memorial Day weekend, the big summer kick-off holiday. Ohiopyle Guest Houses and Yough Lake Campground are close to full occupancy. Good news, though! There is still availability for rafting and zip-lining. But don’t wait too long! Trips fill up quickly for the holiday weekend. You don’t want to be left out of enjoying all the fun.

The Ohiopyle State Park has a weekend full of fun activities planned and the best part is they are FREE to enjoy!
May 25th – Saturday: Constance Ranson Native Plant Sale 9:00 am -2:00 pm
Do you love butterflies? Then come find the perfect plants to bring more of them to your garden. The Constance Ranson Native Plant Sale will be held at the Main Falls Area in Ohiopyle. All of the plants are native to the and there will be a huge selection. For a species list of what will be available, please contact Barb at bawallace@pa.gov.
May 25th – Saturday: River Otter and Fisher! 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm
For many years these playful mammals were absent from Ohiopyle. Join us and lean about their miraculous return to the Youghiogheny watershed. We’ll also talk about what intelligent and truly amazing animals they are. This program will be held at the Kentuck Campground Amphitheater.
May 26th – Sunday: Ferncliff History Hike 10:00 am – 11:30 pm
From the Train Station we will hike across the low bridge and onto the Ferncliff Peninsula. Along the way we will talk about what makes Ferncliff such a special place. We’ll also stop by the fabulous Ferncliff Hotel and talk about Ohiopyle at the turn of the century. Join us for this easy one and half mile hike. Meet at the Ohiopyle Train Station Visitor Center.
May 26th – Sunday: Monarchs and Milkweed 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
During this program we will explore our most well-known butterfly. Along the way we will learn about it’s amazing migratory lifestyle and all of the hardships it endures during its life. We will also discuss why milkweed is so important to its survival. This program will be held at the Ohiopyle Falls Area Visitor Center.
May 26th – Sunday: Night Hike 9:00 pm – 10:30 pm
Many animals travel through the night without flashlights. Tonight we’re going to give it a try. We will go on a one-mile hike through the woods and use our senses to find our way and explore the forest. Meet at the Kentuck Campground Amphitheater.
