With all the color and cooler weather, now is the perfect time to spend an hour or even a day exploring Ohiopyle State Park by bike. Newly graded and freshly graveled, the GAP (Great Allegheny Passage) trail is a rail trail meandering through the countryside from Pittsburgh to DC, passing through Ohiopyle State Park just before continuing on to Cumberland, MD.
Bike rentals are available through the remainder of October at our Outdoor Center on Sherman Street which is located in the town of Ohiopyle. Trail riders will love our Specialized Cruisers, built for comfort and ease, while mountain bikers will enjoy ripping around the 25 miles of single track trails on our Specialized Rockhopper. Bikes are available on a first-come first-serve basis each day from 9:00-4:00pm.
Wondering where to ride? Here are a few ideas for biking in the State Park:

- Gap Trail to Bruner Run: Ride the Gap Trail West toward the Take-out for the Lower Youghiogheny River rafting section. Enjoy the scenic river views at the low and high bridges as well as several side hikes to see the famous Dimple Rapid or the beautiful Jonathan Run Creek Trail. (About 6.5 Miles to Bruner Run, 6.5 miles back to Ohiopyle).
- Sugarloaf Mountain Bike Trails: Atop Sugarloaf Mountain you’ll find scenic views and amazing single track. Park at the snowmobile area lot and take your pick of several trails. Our local rock stars, the Ohiopyle Bike Club, have a great map of these trails on their website.
