Temperatures soared well over 80 degrees this weekend. Ohiopyle looked and felt more like July than May. The beautiful weather really got us thinking about Memorial Day weekend, the big summer kick-off holiday. Ohiopyle Guest Houses and Yough Lake Campground are close to full occupancy. Good news, though! There is still availability for rafting and zip-lining. But don’t wait too long! Trips fill up quickly for the holiday weekend. You don’t want to be left out of enjoying all the fun.

What’s Going On?

campground blogWe also wanted to share some fun things happening over the holiday weekend, besides all the cool stuff here at Laurel Highlands Outdoor Center. Keep an eye on the calendar of events for Ohiopyle State Park for some really informative and fun hikes.

There will be quite a few fun things happening at Yough Lake Campground. Start the weekend off by showing your patriotism with an Americana-themed campsite decorating contest. The winner for best decorations will be decided at the Community Bonfire by the swim beach on Sunday evening starting at 8pm. Friday night enjoy a “Movie Under the Stars” at the campground amphitheater. Gas House Annie will be playing acoustic music at the amphitheater Saturday evening from 6pm-9pm. These events do require you be a registered camper at Yough Lake Campground, or pay a for a guest pass for entry to the campground.

Power Yoga Morgantown will be offering stand-up paddleboard (SUP) yoga classes on Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 11am. Stand-up paddleboard (SUP) Yoga will empower and inspire your practice as you learn to create your foundation on the Youghiogheny Lake. You will learn basic paddle boarding skills, become acquainted with your yoga “mat” for the day and Flow a 60 minute yoga practice on your SUP board. An ability to swim and be comfortable around water is REQUIRED for this class. The cost of the class is $40 and includes your SUP board, Paddle, yoga class and all other fees.
